Self Drilling Drywall Screws

SELF DRILLING DRYWALL SCREWS

Fast and Efficient Fixings for Plasterboard Installation

Designed for securing plasterboard directly to metal or timber studs without pre-drilling.

SELF DRILLING DRYWALL SCREWS

Self-drilling drywall screws, also known as self-tapping drywall screws, are designed to pierce and fasten plasterboard directly to metal or timber studs without the need for a pilot hole. Featuring a drill-bit style conical tip, these screws allow installers to secure plasterboard quickly and efficiently in a single operation.

The self-drilling point is capable of cutting into light gauge metal up to approximately 2.5mm thick, as well as timber studs or battens, making these screws suitable for a wide range of drylining and construction applications.

Typically manufactured from carbon steel, self-drilling drywall screws are finished with either a black phosphate or zinc coating. This finish provides light corrosion resistance and helps prevent rust during installation when exposed to plaster, paint or jointing compounds.

The screws commonly feature a bugle or countersunk head design which allows them to sink neatly into plasterboard surfaces. This ensures a smooth, flush finish while preventing damage or tearing of the plasterboard paper layer during installation.

Typical Applications

Self-drilling drywall screws are widely used for fixing plasterboard to metal channels, metal studs and timber framing in internal wall and ceiling installations. They are commonly used in drylining projects where fast installation and secure fixing are required. Their self-drilling capability makes them particularly suitable for metal stud partition systems as well as timber framework applications within residential and commercial construction projects.
